We’re About Supporting Local & Thinking Global
Over 70 years supporting Gippsland’s farming families and their land
We’ve seen a lot of change in Gippsland since our beginnings in 1953. Technology has advanced, infrastructure has expanded, agriculture has grown, and farming practices have changed.
From humble beginnings as a local operation, we’ve expanded to support the changing agricultural industry. Gibsons Groundspread has been built to respond quickly and reliably to the needs of local farms. We support over 5000 farmers across Gippsland.
Now with multiple production and distribution sites across the region, things look very different at Gibsons Groundspread than they did almost 8 decades ago. But our commitment and loyalty to the Gippsland community has stayed the same.
Soil and plants need a complete, high quality application of fertilisers, compost, lime and gypsum to support the right soil structure, nutrient content and uptake. We’ve curated a portfolio of reliable supply and locally sourced products that suit the Gippsland climate, industries and conditions.
Local people, family owned
Gibsons Groundspread was founded by Bill and Bev Gibson in 1953. Today, more than 70 years on, Gavin, with over 50 years of industry experience, is still very much involved in building and developing our custom spreading fleet. Meanwhile, Pam is ensuring we remain at the forefront of software development within our industry.
The Gippsland farming industry is so special to us. We’re proud to play our part and support the enormous contribution it makes to the Australian agriculture industry, as well as our local workforce and economy.
We take a whole-farm approach
We know what works around here
We’re obsessed with soil science to save you the trouble
Farming continues to evolve, with changing conditions, regulations, environmental pressures and innovations. It’s a lot to keep up to date with, along with day to day demands of running a farm.
We’re soil obsessed, and don’t spread ourselves too thin (pardon the pun!). We give our undivided attention to finding the very best soil amendment solutions and innovative approaches.
From compost solutions that maximise soil biology, to precision application technology for your paddocks, it’s an approach focused on improving how your soil works season to season, not just a short-term fix.
We’re ready to jump (into a spreader)
With multiple depots across Gippsland, a large fleet of spreaders, and product in stock, we’re set up to move quickly when you need us.
When the weather shifts or conditions line up, you don’t have time to wait. With products on hand and a team ready to go, we ensure you never miss your window.
Supporting the farming community
As part of the farming community, perhaps with generations that have gone before, and future generations that will follow, we understand the importance of sustainability.
For many farmers we partner with, the goal is to leave the land in better condition than they found it. We take a balanced approach to give you short-term, fast-acting fixes, whilst also building long-term productivity across your farm, so it continues to perform for years to come.
Safety and compliance is deep rooted
We take farm safety and compliance seriously, so our team developed Kiri Align, a dedicated vehicle and machinery compliance, safety, and maintenance system.
Being Kiri Align accredited, means all our drivers are qualified and competent. With uninterrupted access to the system, both online and offline, they’re able to complete standard pre-start checks and job safety analysis in real-time.,
Kiri Align also centralises and standardises inductions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and step-by-step processes to ensure safety procedures and compliance records are up to date and all in one place.
